The short version: KhonaiMo collects only the data necessary to run the app. We do not sell your data, show ads, or share your information with third parties beyond the Firebase services that power the app.
1. Who We Are
KhonaiMo ("we," "us," or "our") is a mobile application for shared household management, developed and operated as an independent app. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at akbarteam25@gmail.com.
2. Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your full name and email address. This information is used to identify you within your household and to authenticate you.
If you choose to upload a profile photo, the image is stored in Firebase Storage. Uploading a photo is optional and can be removed at any time by contacting support or deleting your account.
We store data you create while using the app, including:
- House name and join code
- Expense records (amount, description, category, date, payer)
- Receipt photos attached to expenses
- Task assignments (title, description, due date, assignee, status)
- Task completion photos
- House information items (rent details, rules, notes, etc.)
This data is shared with other members of your house and is visible to anyone in your household.
If you grant notification permission, we store a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token associated with your account to deliver push notifications. You can revoke notification permission at any time in your iOS Settings.
Firebase may collect anonymized usage data (such as app version and device type) as part of its standard analytics. This data is not linked to your identity and is used only to improve app stability.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Authenticate your account and keep it secure
- Display your profile information to housemates
- Sync household expenses, tasks, and house information in real time
- Calculate expense balances and fair shares
- Send you push notifications about tasks and house activity (only if you opt in)
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.
4. Third-Party Services
KhonaiMo is built on Google Firebase. The following Firebase services process your data:
- Firebase Authentication — manages sign-in via Sign in with Apple
- Cloud Firestore — stores your profile, house, expenses, tasks, and house info
- Firebase Storage — stores profile photos, receipt images, and task completion photos
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivers push notifications
Google's use of data is governed by the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation and Google's Privacy Policy. We do not share your data with any other third parties.
5. Data Sharing
Your data is shared only within your household. Members of your house can see:
- Your display name and profile photo
- Your email address (visible in the member list)
- Expenses you have logged
- Tasks assigned to or created by you
- House information you have added
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
6. Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as your account exists. When you delete your account:
- Your user profile (name, email) is permanently deleted from Firestore
- You are removed from your household's member and admin lists
- Expenses, tasks, and house info you created remain visible to other housemates
- Your profile photo is not automatically deleted from Firebase Storage; contact us at akbarteam25@gmail.com to request its removal
Receipt and task photos linked to shared records are retained to preserve household financial records for remaining members.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: You can view all data associated with your account in the app at any time.
- Update: You can update your display name and profile photo in Profile Settings at any time.
- Delete: You can permanently delete your account via Profile Settings → Delete Account. This immediately removes your profile from our database and signs you out of the app. For complete data erasure requests, contact akbarteam25@gmail.com.
- Notifications: You can disable push notifications at any time in your iOS Settings → Notifications → KhonaiMo.
8. Children's Privacy
KhonaiMo is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately at akbarteam25@gmail.com.
9. Security
We use Firebase's built-in security infrastructure to protect your data. Access to Firestore data is enforced by security rules that ensure users can only read and write data they are authorized to access. Authentication tokens are managed by Firebase and never stored by the app directly.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify you through the app or via email. Continued use of KhonaiMo after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
